So you’re ready for your next wild camp. But… is your kit ready?
Waiting to get back out wild camping? We get it. Make the time between your camps count by practicing great kit preparation. Below we’ve listed ways to plan your kit list and make sure you have everything you need before you leave your front door!
Before you head out wild camping, it is crucial to ensure you have prepared for every eventuality; double checked your kit and packed all the essentials. The last thing you want after a long day hiking is to reach camp and have forgotten your cosy layers, sleeping bag or tent… yes, it happens!
Firstly, we suggest laying all your kit out. Get a clear visual of all the camping equipment you have, then you can decide what to take and what to leave at home. This is a great way to reduce weight in your kit, which is especially important if you are covering long distances or multiple days! Seeing your kit all laid out can help you divide items into essentials and luxuries allowing you to remove all the unessential items until you have the necessities. And yes, that extra chocolate bar is 100% a necessity!
It’s time to think about your tent. When was the last time you pitched it? Can you remember HOW to pitch it?
We recommend pitching your tent at home before hitting the hills. This allows you to check your tent for any damages and get them fixed before you head out. It will also give you chance to deep clean your tent and remove any built-up mud and dirt. Check your tent to ensure you have all the components, and that they are working effectively. If you are missing something, we sell a range of tent accessories here.
Next, air out your sleeping bag and sleeping mat checking for any mould or mildew that may have gathered on the fabric in storage. Inflate your mat and check for any damage; pop them in a breathable bag so they are ready for your next adventure!
By taking extra time, you can guarantee you will have everything you need for a fun, enjoyable and safe camp.
